Hapoel Ironi Rischon LeZion (full name: Hapoel Ironi Rischon LeZion FC , Hebrew הפועל עירוני ראשון לציון) is an Israeli football club in Rishon LeZion .
history
The club is one of the first football clubs founded by Jewish settlers in what was then Mandate Palestine . In 1946, Hapoel played in the final of the forerunner competition of the Israeli Football Cup and lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv . After the founding of the state in 1948, an eventful history followed. In the top division you were 1978-1979, 1980-1982 and between 1994 and 2003 represented. 1996 succeeded another move into a cup final, in which one again drew the short straw against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Since Tel Aviv started in a higher international competition, Rishon LeZion advanced to the qualification for the European Cup Winners' Cup , in which one was due to the Moldovan representative Constructorul Chisinau (today FC Tiraspol ) after a 1-0 defeat in the first leg and a 3-2 home win the away goals rule failed. 2011 succeeded for the fourth time promotion to the first Israeli league, but one rose again directly.
