Wolfgang Mario Mair (born February 17, 1980 in Lienz ) is a former Austrian football player .
Career
Mair started at SV Rapid Lienz with club football and switched to the youth department of FC Tirol Innsbruck in the winter of the 1996/97 season . In 1998 he was promoted to the combat team by Kurt Jara , made his debut on November 14, 1998 with the home game against Vorwärts Steyr and was three times Austrian champion with the club . After the bankruptcy of FC Tirol, the striker came to SV Pasching . After a year-long stint there, he went to the newly founded FC Wacker Tirol . During his time there he was appointed to the Austrian national football team, his first international match played in February 2005 at the International Cyprus Tournament in Limassol.
In summer 2005 he moved to the new FC Red Bull Salzburg . There he was mostly a substitute and in the summer of 2006 he moved to the reigning champions FK Austria Wien . With this he won the ÖFB Cup in 2007 . From 2008 to 2010 he played for SK Austria Kärnten , after its bankruptcy he moved one league lower to the First League for First Vienna FC . In February 2010 he suffered a torn cruciate ligament and collateral ligament in his right knee and had to take a longer injury break.
From summer 2012 he was part of the Red Bull Salzburg farm team, FC Liefering . He helped the club move up to the top division. He stayed there for two years and later ended his playing career at the lower class USC Eugendorf, which is based near Salzburg .
Wolfgang Mair has passed the UEFA A license trainer exam.
In his second career he works independently in his advertising agency (mAIR-GRAPHIX eU) and appears as an artist in painting. He publishes his works under the pseudonym [Kowalski].
