BSV Bad Bleiberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BSV Bad Bleiberg is an Austrian football club from the Carinthian town of Bad Bleiberg . He played from 2000 to 2003 in the second-class 1st division and then went on due to financial difficulties in the satellite club of FC Carinthia called BSV Juniors Villach .

history

Founded in 1952 with the club colors red-white-black. Except for sporadic advances into the lower league (at that time in the area of the Carinthian Football Association, the fourth highest level of performance in Austria), the team never made a significant contribution. When on March 23, 1997 the Bleiberger, who were looked after by an "icon" from SK Austria Klagenfurt , namely Peter Hrstic , won the away game at SV ASKÖ St. Egyden 1-0 in 1st class B (5th league) , no one suspected that this would be the start of a series of 69 competitive games in a row without defeat and the associated promotion to the "1st Division" (second highest Austrian league). It succeeded the championship title and promotion to the minor league. There the 1997/98 season was again concluded with the title. For the first time, the BSV rose to the Carinthian regional champions , where the title was again set in 1998/99, which meant promotion to the third-class regional league middle . And here, too, it was possible to win the championship before the ASKÖ Pasching in the first season 1999/2000 . On September 4, 1999, the series of undefeated ended with the 0: 1 at the aforementioned ASKÖ Pasching. In the following 2000/01 season in the second-class 1st division, the Bad Bleiberger almost made it through to the Bundesliga , because ultimately the championship runner-up was only two points short of champions FC Kärnten . The team called itself “Bleiberger Wölfe”. The athletic advancement was largely achieved with well-known foreign players, with the then club president Egon Putzi acting as a successful entrepreneur (micro-chips etc.) as a generous financier. Putzi also maintained good contacts with the soccer club SV Austria Salzburg , where he also became club president - and this resulted in increased player transfers between the two clubs, with some players from Honduras being signed.

In the following second division year 2001/02 , the club played well and finished third and caused a sensation, especially in the ÖFB Cup , because the second division was only stopped 3-2 in the semi-finals by Sturm . In the following year they made the headlines with a 2-0 victory in the Cup against Rapid . But in 2002/03 the club had to go into relegation with ninth place. The opponent was called FC Blau-Weiß Linz . On the home ground in Villach (Lind stadium) - the Bad Bleiberger three-larch stadium was given up in the second division - it was a tired 0: 2 for the guests, in the second leg they were 1: 2 behind at break. In a sensational race to catch up, they secured the league with a 4: 2.

The association was in enormous financial difficulties, Egon Putzi either wanted or could no longer support the association. It was only after many years that Putzi made a name for himself in terms of sponsoring a football club, when he, meanwhile head of the company in another branch ("Etoxx"), began to support the Villacher football club Villacher SV .

After the relegation games, the club was taken over by FC Kärnten and played in the following season as a satellite club under the new name BSV Juniors Villach in the second stage, renamed "First League", with the home matches almost always being held in Bad Bleiberg. The renaming to "BSV Juniors" was decided at a general assembly on July 5, 2003, at which the most important positions in the club were filled. Sports director was Alfred Mölzer , manager Josef Zauchner and coach Angelo Devescovi . Franz Koloini , head of protocol from Governor Jörg Haider , acted as chairman - and the game had to be played with a heavily slimmed-down team. In October, coach Devescovi was sacked, Alfred Mölzer took over for the time being. On November 10, 2003, Hannes Haubitz was signed , who was only released as coach of FC Kärnten at the end of October . Just like the sponsoring club FC Kärnten, the juniors were relegated to sport (this was already determined three rounds before the end). Soon after the end of the 2003/04 season, the club disbanded due to a lack of financial resources and thus waived the place it was entitled to in the Middle Regional League. Bankruptcy proceedings were then initiated against the association. On October 4, 2004, the first creditors' meeting took place at the Klagenfurt Regional Court, with claims of € 450,000 uncovered and there was also no prospect of being brought in. Even the floodlight system that had been built in Bleiberg could not be used because it had meanwhile been installed in the Villach stadium.

Since the 2006/07 season, the successor club BSV Bad Bleiberg has been playing in the lower house again (for the time being in the 2nd class B, the last league in the Carinthian Football Association). As champions of the 2008/09 season, they were promoted to 1st class (they played in group "B"), where they stayed for three years. From 2012/13 the combat team found itself again in the "2. Class B ", for the 2015/16 season the BSV is in the" 2. Class C “(reason: increase in the number of groups from four to five in order to meet geographical conditions).

As the online page of the "Kleine Zeitung" Kärnten reported on August 11, 2015, Walter López, one of the legionnaires of the then second division club, was shot dead by a gang on August 9, 2015 while leaving a football stadium in the Guatemalan border town of La Mesilla .
