Leopold "Leo" Lainer (born September 10, 1960 in Maishofen , Land Salzburg ) is a former Austrian soccer player .
Career
The then right full-back and captain of the successful Austria Salzburg team still played for Rapid Vienna and FC Tirol Innsbruck , among others . Lainer played 28 times in the Austrian national soccer team and scored one goal. The home club of the frequent Austrian champions , cup winners competition - finalists from 1985 and UEFA Cup finalists from 1994 is SK Maishofen.
Leo Lainer went to SV Gerasdorf in the 2nd division in spring 1997 and subsequently played - until his official career end in July 2005 - at smaller clubs in the Salzburg region and the surrounding area. He was also Georg Zellhofer's assistant coach at FC Superfund in Pasching from the beginning of the 2004/05 season to the beginning of the 2005/06 season . He has been a scout at Red Bull Salzburg since this season .

His son Stefan played for FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga from 2015 to 2019 and for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the German Bundesliga since the 2019/20 season. His daughter Franziska is also active as a soccer player and trainer, currently in the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga .
