Population development

history
Maishofen was first mentioned in 1338 as "Mainshauen". In 1838 the first schoolhouse was built in Maishofen. At that time it was exactly on the square where the Raiffeisenkasse is now. Before that time, children were only educated in private homes during the winter. For example in the “Unknerhaus” - today's “Gadenstätter” house next to the MPREIS market. The ground floor dates from this time. After that, until the first schoolhouse was completed, lessons were held in the “Moarhaus” of Saalhof Palace , which is still preserved today. Construction of today's schoolhouse began on May 21, 1907 and its use was approved on August 30, 1908. A very short construction period for the time.
coat of arms
The coat of arms of the municipality means: "In a green shield, the front view of a two-storey silver castle with two round corner towers, all parts of the building with golden pointed roofs, including a golden plow without wheels on the right, with a golden ploughshare and six-knife." The castle represents the four castles in Maishofen dar: Prielau Castle , Stiegerschlössel, Saalhof Castle and Kammer Castle.
