Viehhofen is a tourist municipality with 607 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Salzburger Land in the Zell am See district in Austria .

Viehhofen out of the valley

The municipality is located in the Pinzgau in the Salzburger Land in the Glemmtal between Zell am See and Saalbach-Hinterglemm . Due to the numerous unobstructed torrents , Viehhofen has recently been hit by severe mudslides , especially in 1995, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 , which temporarily cut off the place from the outside world. The highest mountain in Viehhofen is the Obere Gernkogel with a height of 2175  m .

The coat of arms of the community is: "In a gold shield on a red three-mountain a red-armored black boar , with both front legs holding a red ring, which is decorated with a little cross at the bottom."
