Hans Rieder

Hans Rieder (born November 9, 1940 in Maishofen ; † December 18, 2013 in Zell am See ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. Rieder was a member of the National Council , mayor and honorary citizen of Maishofen.

Life

After completing compulsory school, Hans Rieder attended business school and joined the Maishofen cattle breeding association in 1955. From 1959 he worked in a construction company, from 1960 in the Rieder concrete plant. Rieder built up the plant and took it over as managing partner in 1990. In 1997 he was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor. From 2003 the agenda was handed over to his son Wolfgang Rieder.

Hans Rieder was married to Christine Rieder and has three children and ten grandchildren.

Politically, Rieder was active in local politics and worked from 1969 to 1974 as a community representative in Maishofen. He was then a member of the local council between 1979 and 1983 and was Mayor of Maishofen between 1983 and 1990. Rieder also worked from 1977 as party chairman of the ÖVP Maishofen and was a member of the state guild of the building aid trade of Salzburg. Furthermore, he held the office of deputy chairman of the Austrian Economic Association Pinzgau and from 1991 was also deputy chairman of the Austrian Economic Association of Salzburg. Rieder represented the ÖVP from November 5, 1990 to November 9, 1993 in the National Council. He was also Vice Mayor of Zell am See for a short time and was a major pioneer of the political change in the mountain town. Hans Rieder was also an honorary citizen of the Maishofen community. He was able to achieve many small and large successes through his consistency and perseverance for the region and Maishofen, especially the bypasses of Zell am See, Kirchham and the new church in Maishofen should be mentioned.

Hans Rieder died on December 18, 2013 of cancer. With great sympathy from the population, Hans Rieder was bid farewell on December 21, 2013 and is buried at the cemetery in Maishofen.
