history

At the corner of Serlesstrasse and Innstrasse, there was a small ball playground on the grounds of the Peace Settlement Cooperative in the early 1960s, which Ludwig Falger and a group of young people visited. More and more young people, mostly from Neu-Rum, visited the square, and Ludwig Falger and Josef Höck set up a soccer team, and FC Neu-Rum was born. A former police SV player, Edgar Kopp, who later became mayor of Rum, was persuaded to play in the team. Edgar Kopp was able to win over the then deputy mayor and member of the supervisory board of the Josef Mayr housing association for the idea of enlarging the ball playground at the club's expense.

The Rumer were Tyrolean champions in 1980 and rose to the Regionalliga West, where they were fifth of 14 teams. The club played in the regional league for nine seasons, including three years (from 1983 to 1986) as part of a syndicate with Innsbruck SK . In 1989 they were relegated to the Tyrolean league, but in 1991 they managed to become Tyrolean champions again. In the following season they finished 10th in the Regionalliga West, which was then dissolved. The club therefore had to continue playing in the Tyrolean league. Five years later, in 1996, they finished 4th and were promoted to the re-established Regionalliga West, in which they could hold out for three years. Three years after relegation to the Tyrolean league, they achieved the Tyrolean championship title again in 2002 and were promoted again to the Regionalliga West. The men's section entered into a cooperation with the Innsbruck AC , but rose again from the Regionalliga West in 2002/03; the syndicate broke up in 2004/05. As a result, the club had to start in the 1st class middle and rose in 2008 to the District League East, 2012 in the Regional League East and 2013 in the State League. From 2015 the club rose again from several leagues. Today the club plays in the lower leagues of Tyrol.
