Fabian Benko (born June 5, 1998 in Munich ) is a German - Croatian soccer player who was mainly trained at FC Bayern Munich and has been under contract with LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga since summer 2018 .

Career

society

Benko started playing soccer at SV Waldeck Obermenzing in the west of Munich and moved to the youth department of FC Bayern Munich in 2005 . Since the 2014/15 season he has been playing for the second team in the fourth-class Bavarian regional league . He played his first competitive game on July 29, 2015 in a 1-1 draw at FV Illertissen .

In July 2015, he took part in a test game trip to China with the FC Bayern professional team. In September 2015, Benko signed a licensed player contract with FC Bayern Munich that runs until 2018.

He made his professional debut in the 2016/17 season in the first round of the DFB Cup at FC Carl Zeiss Jena , when he was brought into play for Arturo Vidal in the 77th minute .

For the 2018/19 season, Benko made a free transfer to the Austrian first division club LASK , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2021. He made his Bundesliga debut in July 2018 when he came on as a substitute for Peter Michorl in the 78th minute on the first matchday of that season against FC Red Bull Salzburg . Four days later he came, also as a substitute, to his first European Cup appearance in the second leg of the second qualifying round for the Europa League away from the Norwegian cup winner Lilleström SK . The team reached the next round and were knocked out against Besiktas Istanbul , but Benko was not used in these two games.

In November 2018 he played against Kapfenberger SV for the first time for the second-class farm team FC Juniors OÖ .

National team

In October 2014, Benko played a friendly against Spain for the German U17 national team , which they lost 1-0 in Nerja .

In September 2018 he played against Russia for the first time for the Croatian U20 team .
