Benjamin Wallquist (born January 24, 2000 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player .
Career
society
Wallquist began his career at SC Brunn am Gebirge . In 2013 he joined the youth team of FC Admira Wacker Mödling . After almost one and a half years at Admira, he moved to the FC Red Bull Salzburg academy in summer 2014 .
After playing in the academy before, Wallquist made his debut for farm team FC Liefering in the second division in April 2017 when he was in the starting line-up against LASK on matchday 30 of the 2016/17 season . Wallquist became the first player in the history of the second division to be born after January 1, 2000.
Wallquist was also part of the FC Red Bull Salzburg U-19 team, which won the UEFA Youth League in the 2016/17 season . Wallquist came in the second round second leg against FK Qairat Almaty for his only appearance.
For the 2017/18 season he moved to Germany to the A-Juniors of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In November 2018 he was against 1. FC Saarbrücken for the first time in the squad of the second team from Hoffenheim. He made his debut for this in the regional league in March 2019 when he came on as a substitute for Moody Chana in the 72nd minute against Kickers Offenbach on the 22nd matchday of the 2018/19 season . This was his only season appearance for the regional league team.
For the 2019/20 season, he moved to the regional division Rot-Weiss Essen . However, he did not appear in the league for Essen. In January 2020 he returned to Austria and switched to the second division club FC Juniors OÖ , where he received a contract that ran until June 2022.
National team
Wallquist played for an Austrian national youth team for the first time in November 2014. In September 2015, he booked his first appearance for the U-16 team . In August 2016 he made his debut against Croatia for Austria's U-17 team . In October 2017 he played for the U-18 selection for the first time .
In September 2018 he made his debut against Sweden for the U-19 team .
