SchauTV emerged from the former BKF, Burgenland Cable TV, which was sold to Bohmann Verlag on the initiative of Hans Niessl. After an unfortunately unsuccessful interlude, the station is now owned by the Kurier-Medienhaus based in Vienna. Kurier Managing Director Thomas Kralinger has taken over the management.
SchauTV started broadcasting in February 2012. As part of the 100% takeover of the station from the Kurier-Medienhaus, u. a. an optical relaunch of the SchauTV broadcast design was carried out. In addition to the optics, technical improvements have also been made, with immediate effect, SchauTV can be received with HD capability via antenna, cable and satellite.
