Daniel Beichler (born October 13, 1988 in Graz ) is a former Austrian football player on the position of midfielder .

Career

Club career

Beichler began his football career as a child at SV Grambach . In 1995 he switched to the U-8 youth team of SK Sturm Graz. In the 2006/07 season Beichler played on loan in Italy with Reggina Calcio , but did not come to Serie A there . In 2007 SK Sturm brought him back to Graz . Beichler made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga on November 24, 2007 against SCR Altach . He came on for Mario Haas in the 86th minute and scored his first Bundesliga goal straight away. On July 19, 2010, Beichler signed a four-year contract with Hertha BSC, who were relegated to the German Bundesliga . At the latter club he has not yet been used due to various injuries. During the winter break of the 2010/11 season he switched to FC St. Gallen on loan .

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, Beichler was loaned out to MSV Duisburg in the 2nd Bundesliga by his home club Hertha BSC for a year . The loan contract was terminated on August 29, 2011 and Beichler switched again on loan from Hertha BSC to SV Ried . For the 2012/13 season returned Beichler back to Hertha BSC.

At the end of January 2013, Beichler was loaned to league competitor SV Sandhausen until the end of the 2012/13 season in order to gain more match practice.

For the 2013/14 season Beichler returned to SK Sturm Graz. He signed a two-year contract until June 30, 2015 with an option for another year.

International

Internationally, Beichler played six U-19 internationals for Austria and scored two goals. He also took part in the U-19 European Football Championship in 2007 in his own country. In the game against Greece he managed to equalize with a penalty. Austria was eliminated in the preliminary round as the bottom of the group. Beichler also played four games for Austria's U-20 team. To another two missions and one hit he came for the U-21 selection of his home country. On March 18, 2009 he was called up for the first time in the squad of the senior team for the World Cup qualifying game against Romania , where he came to his first senior team assignment at the game on April 1, 2009 from the start of the game.

After the active career

In July 2017, Beichler announced the end of his career as a professional footballer due to persistent knee problems.

Daniel Beichler has also been working as a trainer in the junior division since January 2017. He coaches at JAZ GU-Süd, the Styrian cooperation club of FC Red Bull Salzburg in the youth field.
