Bruno Friesenbichler (born March 30, 1968 in Weiz ) is a former soccer player and now soccer coach .
Career
As a soccer player
Bruno Friesenbichler signed his first professional contract with the then Bundesliga club First Vienna FC in the summer of 1981 . There he played his first game on July 14, 1981 under coach Peter Leitl in a 2-2 game at Kremser SC . After one season he left Vienna and moved to the Regionalliga Mitte for SVL Flavia Solva . In the summer of 1993 he was signed by SK Sturm Graz . There he scored his first goal in the Bundesliga on August 14, 1993 in the 2-4 defeat at FC Wacker Innsbruck to equalize in the meantime.
After two years, Friesenbichler moved to city rivals Grazer AK in the summer of 1996 , where he was not used. He then moved again to First Vienna FC in January 1997. He left Vienna again in the summer of 1997 and signed a contract with Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz . He had his most successful time with the Vorarlberg team , playing 56 games (15 goals) in three years.
In the summer of 2000 Friesenbichler moved to FC Kärnten , where he stayed for one season. In July 2001 he returned to Vorarlberg and signed a contract with FC Lustenau 07 . After half a year he signed a contract in Styria with DSV Leoben .
As a soccer coach
His move to SV Ried in the summer of 2003 opened up a new chance for his career. In the Upper Austrians he was not only used as a player, but also acted as the assistant coach of Petar Šegrt . On October 31, 2003, Friesenbichler played his last game as a professional soccer player in the 1-0 defeat at FC Wacker Innsbruck. After the SV Ried separated from Petar Šegrt, Friesenbichler moved to SC Weiz in the Styrian regional league in January 2004 . Above all, because he was able to continue his chosen path as a football coach as a player coach . He stayed there for a year and a half.
After a creative break, he was signed by TSV Hartberg in the summer of 2007 . The Hartberger were relegated as the penultimate from the first division . In the first season of the Regionalliga Mitte , the team reached seventh place. In the 2008/09 season , Hartberg delivered a head-to-head race with the Grazer AK , which was only decided in the last lap. In the last game, TSV Hartberg overtook Graz with a 6-0 win against SAK Klagenfurt with a tie thanks to the one goal difference, with Robert Gamperl only scoring the decisive goal one minute before the end of the game. With this, TSV Hartberg secured the championship title and the associated promotion to the first division. In the following two seasons the league was held with the ninth ( 2009/10 season ) and eighth ( 2010/11 season ) place.
After the club and Friesenbichler could not agree on a contract extension in summer 2011, Friesenbichler moved to SK Austria Klagenfurt in the Regionalliga Mitte. There his engagement only lasted until March 21, 2013, because Friesenbichler threw in the towel after several key players had been surrendered in the winter due to differences within the club.
In the summer of 2013 Friesenbichler returned to TSV Hartberg together with his former assistant coach Christian Ilzer as the successor to Paul Gludovatz . His brother Günter Friesenbichler , who had already played in Hartberg in the 2010/11 season, also joined the team. At the end of the 2014/15 season , his contract in Hartberg was not extended.
On May 3, 2016, Friesenbichler was signed up by SC Weiz , where he succeeded Gregor Pötscher . He managed to save the club from looming relegation from the Regionalliga Mitte.
