Martin Scherb (born June 23, 1969 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian football coach .
Career
As a player
As a player he worked for SC St. Pölten , FC Sturm 19 St. Pölten , Amaliendorf, 1. SV Maria Anzbach, SV Gmünd and SC Herzogenburg .
As a trainer
From 2000 he was a special trainer at the St. Pölten Football Academy and from 2004 also U-15 regional association trainer. He was also a functionary for the youth coach training at the Lower Austrian Football Association. After the resignation of Walter Hörmann , he became coach of the then regional league team SKN St. Pölten on January 7, 2007 . Under coach Scherb, who took up his post on January 7, 2007, he won the championship title in the Regionalliga Ost in 2008 and thus made it to the first division.
On September 1, 2013, after five defeats in a row, the leave of absence of coach Martin Scherb was announced.
In December 2016 he became coach of the Bundesliga club SCR Altach . In May 2017, Altach split from Scherb after slipping to fourth place.
He has been with the ÖFB since January 1, 2018 and took over the position of team manager for the U-15 and U-19 national teams.
On July 1, 2018, he took over the U-16 national team. He is also the base coordinator of the ÖFB.
Private
He is married and has two daughters with his wife Gerlinde (* 1969). Professionally, he works as a part-time civil servant at the Lower Austrian Provincial School Board. He was also an expert at the pay TV broadcaster Sky Austria .
