history

Emergence

In 1872 Paul Scholz founded a sorting company in Liegnitz ( Lower Silesia ). The predecessor company C.-H. Scholz KG in Lower Silesia by Carl-Heinz Scholz, the grandson of Paul Scholz. After the family was expelled from Lower Silesia, the new beginning began in Heilbronn and Aalen in 1945 . Between 1965 and 1989, export relationships and various company holdings were established. After the German reunification , an engagement began in the now accessible eastern markets. In 1999 the company was converted into a stock corporation and traded as Scholz AG. In 2008 the subsidiary Scholz Recycling AG was founded.

Economic decline and loss of independence

The first corporate bond was issued in 2012. In 2013 Oliver Scholz took over the position of CEO of the company from his father Berndt-Ulrich Scholz. In 2014 the company was restructured to Scholz Recycling GmbH & Co. KG and the Japanese Toyota Tsūshō took a 39.9 percent stake. At the end of 2015, the company was considered “one of the largest restructuring cases in Germany”. In 2016 the name was changed again to Scholz Recycling GmbH, which became the leading company in the Scholz Group. At the end of 2016, the company was taken over by the Chiho Environmental Group including the remaining debts after a haircut for one euro. On December 15, 2016, the shareholders of the Chiho Environmental Group approved the takeover of the Scholz Group at an extraordinary general meeting in Hong Kong. With this resolution, the last step in a series of conditions in the share purchase agreement of August 29, 2016 was completed.

Commitment to VfR Aalen

From 2008 to 2017, Berndt-Ulrich Scholz secured the naming rights to the Städtisches Waldstadion Aalen and renamed it Scholz Arena; today it is called Ostalb Arena . In 2013, the then chairman Berndt-Ulrich Scholz, who was also president of the soccer club, prevented the club from going bankrupt with a guarantee of 6 million euros.
