Gustav Pinzger
Carl Gustav Eduard Pinzger (born October 4, 1800 in Nieder Langenau , Löwenberg district , Province of Silesia , † December 2, 1838 in Breslau ) was a German classical philologist and grammar school director.
Born as the son of the Protestant preacher Ernst Lebrecht Traugott Pinzger (1789–1808) on the edge of the Bober-Katzbach Mountains , he studied Protestant theology and philology in Breslau after attending grammar school in Hirschberg (1810–1818) . There he became a member of the old Breslau fraternity Arminia in 1820 . In 1821 he passed the senior teacher examination. In 1822 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD , habilitation in 1827 . Because of his membership in the fraternity , among other things because of statements by Karl Heinrich Hermes , he was interrogated in 1822, but pardoned in 1824. In 1825 he became a teacher at the Elisabet Gymnasium in Breslau. In 1827 he became a private lecturer at the University of Breslau . He was considered a specialist in Greek formal theory and grammar as well as in Hellenistic literature. In 1828 he became prorector at the grammar school in Ratibor , in 1830 rector of the grammar school in Liegnitz . He also wrote for the Schlesische Provinzialblätter , the Allgemeine Schul-Zeitung and other papers.
