Eberhard Frowein
Eberhard Frowein (born May 24, 1881 in Elberfeld , German Empire , † January 15, 1964 in Altaussee , Austria ) was a German novel , screenwriter and film director .
Life
He was the son of the factory owner Abraham Frowein and his wife Luise Frowein. After graduating from high school, he first worked as a writer and wrote the novels “Lexicon of Love”, “First the Ponies” and “Die Eiserne Ann”. From 1920 he turned to film. In addition to socially critical and socio-historical films, educational films were a specialty of Eberhard Frowein in the 1920s, and films on topics of sexuality that were taboo to date, such as the two films Die Ehe (1929) and Fertility, produced by the Dutchman Theodoor Hendrik van de Velde (1930). His writing and directing work led to the time of National Socialism ultimately the film I Accuse (1941) , the acceptance of the Nazi eugenics and the killing so-called "life unworthy of life" in the Action T4 should create. The film already failed to have its effect in the Third Reich and is now a reserved film . In addition to his work as a writer and director, Frowein also appeared as a producer and produced the film The Wig in 1925 .
After the war Eberhard Frowein went to Austria and worked on homeland films.
