Helmuth Schönnenbeck
Helmuth Schönnenbeck (born November 1, 1902 in Bonn - Endenich ; † December 19, 1973 in Feldafing am Starnberger See , Germany ) was a German film editor and film producer .
Life
Schönnenbeck began his career as an assistant director and worked in this role for Herbert Selpin on his films Spiel am Bord und Alarm in Beijing . In 1937 he was hired by the Cine-Allianz Tonfilm as an editor, but in the following year (beginning with the aim in the clouds ) he was recruited by Terra-Filmkunst and was responsible for the film editing at this production company until 1945 . During the war years there was close collaboration with Terra-Star Heinz Rühmann , whose films Schönnenbeck edited - both in Rühmann's role as an actor and as a director. In 1945 he was also appointed as editor for the unfinished Rühmann comedy Sag the Truth . In addition, Helmuth Schönnenbeck edited three productions by Helmut Käutner .
Immediately after the end of the war, Schönnenbeck teamed up with a partner, E. Hasselbach, and founded Studio 45-Film GmbH, the first film production company with a British license after the war. With this company, Schönnenbeck re-realized the Sag 'die Truth film material in 1946 - this time without Rühmann. After editing the Zeitbild Zugvögel produced by his company , Helmut Schönnenbeck ended his career as an editor and now turned entirely to film production. When Studio 45-Film GmbH went bankrupt after only three films, Schönnenbeck was only able to accommodate one film idea (1948 on Blocked Signals ) until the Federal Republic of Germany was founded . From 1950 to 1954 he worked as a production manager.
Schönnenbeck, who initially lived in Grünwald after the war, ended his active film career and later acquired his own film theater. After a long illness he died at the age of 71 just before Christmas 1973. Helmuth Schönnenbeck's wife was the film editor Anneliese Schönnenbeck .
