And one day we'll find each other again ... is a German feature film from 1947 by Hans Müller with Paul Dahlke and a number of young actors in the leading roles. The story was based on a novella by Hertha von Gebhardt. The film was shown in Austria under the title Seduced Youth :

Germany in the spring of 1945. The Allies are close to the complete occupation of the country, and everything in the defeated country seems to be in the process of dissolving. Five boys from a school class relocated from the war zone to Westphalia, still inspired by the belief in the Führer and Final Victory, decide to go to Berlin to help free the city besieged by the Red Army from the Russian stranglehold. The older, more experienced teachers such as Studienrat Bockendahl are concerned about what will happen to their country in the face of the strong upheavals. The five adolescents first travel to their highly esteemed teacher Assessor Paulke, who has so far been a deeply loyal representative of National Socialist ideology, but who, with wise foresight, tries to get rid of his brown past as quickly as possible. He asks his astonished students to help him to get rid of his SA-Kluft, which identifies him as a storm leader. The blond student Wolfgang in particular is stunned by Paulke's defeatism; a world collapses for him. The boys, including the dog that runs after the youngest of the gullible brats, march on and continue to face the consequences of the war unleashed by Hitler's Germany.

Gehlhorn not only becomes the boys' fatherly protector, but also a reminder for more humanity and a peaceful future. Gehlhorn also ensures that Wolfgang is delivered undamaged and purified to his mother. This is the end of the war for him and the other teenagers. What remains is a hope that manifests itself in Goethe's words (from "Hermann and Dorothea"): "And one day we will find ourselves again above the ruins of the world, we will be creatures again ..."
