Carl Raddatz

Carl Raddatz , actually Karl Werner Fritz Raddatz , (born March 13, 1912 in Mannheim , † May 19, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German film and theater actor .

Raddatz was baptized as a Protestant in Mannheim on March 31, 1912. His parents were the insurance officer Karl Hermann Raddatz from Magdeburg and Luisa Elisabetha Nußbickel from Mannheim. Raddatz took acting lessons in Mannheim. Through Willy Birgel he came to the Mannheim National Theater . He then played in Aachen , Darmstadt and Bremen .

In 1937 the UFA in Potsdam-Babelsberg signed him for the film Urlaub auf Ehrenwort . This was followed by the UFA productions Twelve Minutes After Twelve (1939), Twilight (1940), Immensee (1943), Sacrifice (1944) and Unter den Brücken (1945). He also acted in NS - propaganda films such request concert (1940), Homecoming (1941) and Stukas with (1941).

After the Second World War , Raddatz in Rosen in Autumn (1955), Night of the Decision under director Falk Harnack (1956) and Made in Germany (1957) became a crowd favorite. In 1975 he shot his last movie with Everyone dies for himself . In 1979 he returned as consul in the Thomas Mann film Die Buddenbrooks .

Raddatz belonged to the ensemble of the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin , appeared in the Schiller and Schlossparktheater in Des Teufels General by Carl Zuckmayer and Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett . In 1963 he was made a Berlin State Actor , and in 1972 an honorary member of the State Theaters. In the 1950s he also dubbed foreign film productions. Raddatz lent his voice to Humphrey Bogart , Robert Taylor , Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin , among others .

In 1972 he was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany. 1979 the film tape in gold for his life's work .

Raddatz was married three times, his first marriage to Hannelore Schroth . His grave is in the Dahlem cemetery in field 005-35; since November 2010 it has been an honorary grave of the State of Berlin.

On August 21, 2012, a Berlin memorial plaque was attached to his former home, Am Schülerheim 6, in Berlin-Dahlem .
