Friedrich Kolander

Friedrich Kolander (born November 12, 1904 in Strasbourg , Alsace ; † January 29, 1979 in Berlin ) was a German actor and director who also wrote plays.

Life

Kolander completed his school days in Hanover and studied in Marburg, Munich and Berlin. As a theater actor he made his debut in 1928 at the Landestheater Coburg , where he later also directed. He later worked on stages in Oldenburg, Magdeburg, Hanover, Kiel, Frankfurt and Gelsenkirchen.

With his play The Zero Hour, first performed in Braunschweig in 1953 , he also found high recognition as a playwright . He was awarded the Gerhart Hauptmann Prize for the piece . Another piece by Kolander is entitled Ballad in Texas . The world premiere took place in Braunschweig in 1954.

Kolander also worked as a narrator for the radio play . In the Buddenbrooks score of 1965 he played the school principal Wulicke. He had speaking roles in the three radio plays based on Michael Ende's Jim Knopf , which were produced by Philips / Phonogram in 1971.
