Hanoch Levin
Hanoch Levin (born December 18, 1943 in Tel Aviv , League of Nations mandate for Palestine ; died August 18, 1999 in Tel Aviv, Israel ) was an Israeli writer and one of the leading Israeli playwrights and directors .
Life
Hanoch Levin studied philosophy and literature in Tel Aviv . After that he was first active as a poet, but soon changed the genre and devoted himself to dramaturgy . Levin wrote many plays for the Cameri Theater . In addition, he composed songs. His play "Queen of the Bathtub", in which he criticized the Israeli occupation after the Six Day War , caused a major theatrical scandal in 1970 and was canceled due to massive pressure from the public and the government. He was married twice and had four children.
