The Cameri Theater ( הַתֵּיאַטְרוֹן הַקּאמֶרִי ha-Tej'aṭrōn ha-Qāmerī ) is a stage in Tel Aviv , Israel . It was officially founded in 1945, but some productions by the theater company had been made earlier. It is one of the most important theaters in the country. The house should be a "theater with social responsibility". There are nine to ten premieres annually, and over a million people attend the performances annually. It also has many guest appearances abroad.

In May 2011, however, the Cameri Theater canceled a planned guest performance in Antalya , Turkey , because of the announced protests of pro-Palestinian groups against the performance.

The theater presents many plays by world-famous authors such as William Shakespeare , Bertolt Brecht and Henrik Ibsen, as well as by Israeli writers such as Hanoch Levin .

The actors in the theater company include Yossi Yadin , Hanna Maron and Orna Porat . The venue of the Cameri Theater is located in ha-Mischkan le-Ommanūyyōt ha-Bamah (הַמִּשְׁכָּן לְאָמָּנֻיּוֹת הַבָּמָה Place for the stage arts ) at Sderot Scha'ul ha-Melech  19 (Scha'ul-ha-Melech-Allee) next to the Tel Aviv Art Museum .
