The Textimasteg is a pedestrian bridge over the White Elster in Gera . It connects the Hofwiesenpark on the right bank of the river with the Heinrichsgrün district .

history

In 1967 the first pedestrian bridge was built at this point. It led to the VEB Textilmaschinenbau Gera of the Textima combine on the left bank of the river, which is why it was known colloquially as Textimasteg . In the course of preparations for the 2007 Federal Horticultural Show , this bridge was demolished in August 2005. A 44-meter-long pylon bridge was built in its place, officially named Textimasteg on March 28, 2006 . The pylons are 11.60 meters high.

During the Federal Horticultural Show 2007, the bridge was located within the exhibition grounds. It connected the Hofwiesenpark as the main exhibition area with the areas on the west bank of the White Elster, including above all the cemetery gardens around Villa Jahr . Because of its blue paint, it is also colloquially called the Blue Wonder of Gera .
