The Villa Jahr is a villa in the north of the Gera district of Heinrichsgrün , near the left bank of the White Elster .

history

The villa was built between 1905 and 1907 in the historicism style for the Gera industrialist Moritz Rudolf Jahr, son and heir of the mechanical engineering entrepreneur Ernst Moritz Jahr (1816–1899), by the Gera architect Rudolf Schmidt .

In 1945 the Jahr family was expropriated. The villa was initially used as the apartment of the Soviet city commandant, later as a children's home and as a boarding school for the current Goethe-Gymnasium .
