Filmecho / Filmwoche is a weekly trade magazine about cinema and the film industry .

It is the oldest German film magazine still in existence and at the same time the official organ of the Main Association of German Film Theaters (HDF Kino e.V.). With news, market analyzes and background reports on the German cinema landscape, it is primarily aimed at decision-makers in the industry. It is divided into the categories of film industry, cinema, market, production, TV & media and international.

history

The first edition of the publication, then still called Film-Echo , appeared in Hamburg in March 1947 as the official organ of the business association of film theaters in the British zone. The first editorial office was the Waterloo House. Up until the end of the 1940s, reports were mainly made on the cinema in Hamburg and in northern Germany. At the beginning the magazine appeared monthly, later it switched to a weekly publication.

In May 1950 the company moved to Wiesbaden . In February 1962, Film-Echo merged with the trade journal Die Neue Filmwoche , which was published in Baden-Württemberg . Also in 1962 the association with the Berlin trade journal Filmblätter took place .

Since then, the magazine has been published as Filmecho / Filmwoche . The name "Filmwoche" refers to the weekly cinema journal Die Filmwoche , which was published before the Second World War .

From 1971 to 2006 Detlef Schaller headed the commercial department of the specialist magazine. Even after leaving operational business, he continues to act as editor of the Filmecho / Filmwoche .

Since 1964 the Hauptverband Deutscher Filmtheater e. V. and Filmecho / Filmwoche for the great successes of German and foreign films the golden screen .
