Schwejks Flegeljahre is an Austrian black and white film from 1964 directed by Wolfgang Liebeneiner with Peter Alexander in the lead role. The film is based on the novel The Good Soldier Schwejk by Jaroslav Hašek .

At the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy in Bohemian Prague : the butcher's son Josef Schwejk is called up for military service. He takes his dog Metternich into the barracks and is then sentenced to arrest . However, the supervisor of the detention cells is his old friend Anton Loschek, so that he can enjoy the days in detention playing cards. When he gave the dog to the major's daughter as a present, he met Lieutenant Gustl. This makes him his fellow . This has the consequence that he is confronted with the eventful love life of his master.
