Oskar Wegrostek (* 6. October 1907 in Vienna , † 11 June 1972 ibid ) was an Austrian actor .

He attended secondary school, which he graduated with the Matura . In 1930/31 he received private acting lessons from Fritz Blum and Rudolf Beer . His stage career began in 1931 at the Deutsches Volkstheater in Vienna, the theater to which he remained loyal until the end of his life.

From 1934 to 1938 he worked at the cabaret " Literatur am Naschmarkt ". He co-founded the cabaret “Brettl am Alsergrund” and in 1939 worked for a year as a cabaret artist at the “Wiener Werkel”.

In 1940 he returned to the Volkstheater, he also played at the Raimundtheater , Stadttheater Wien , at the Wiener Kammerspiele and at the Renaissance stage . Further appearances led him to the Schauspielhaus Graz and the Stadttheater Klagenfurt . Wegrostek acted mainly in plays from the old Viennese folk theater Johann Nestroy and folk plays , more rarely in works of classical theater. In 1939 Wien-Film brought him in front of the camera, and it was often Viennese films in which Wegrostek, often at the side of Hans Moser and Paul Hörbiger , took part as a supporting and minor actor . He continued his artistic career in film to the end, gave guest appearances at theaters such as the Theater in der Josefstadt and worked for the radio stations Avag and Rot-Weiß-Rot . Wegrostek is buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery in an honorary grave (group 40, number 31).
