action

Monika Lohmeyer inherited the rose nursery that has been in the family for several generations from her father. The young woman has major financial problems with the company. She has invested a lot of money and attention in breeding a new variety of roses that will bloom in different colors and build on the experiments that were already started by her father. Such a rose would be a sensation and could eliminate all financial problems. Gas station owner Zappke, who runs a gas station on the neighboring property and wants to expand, puts a lot of strain on her because he absolutely wants to buy the property from her that he urgently needs for his expansion. Together with his architect Fred Klinger, he hatches a plan on how Monika, who opposes all sales offers, could still change her mind. Without knowing who Klinger really is, she should develop feelings for him. Monika actually falls in love with him, but what wasn't planned, Fred also falls in love with the young woman. When she finds out who Fred is by chance, she turns away from him, disappointed. When a storm comes down that threatens to destroy Monika's new breed, Fred is there and helps her. Since Monika knows from her loyal gardener Karl Hanke that Fred quit his job shortly after he fell in love with Monika, nothing stands in the way of a reconciliation with Fred.

Just as Monika has signed an oral contract with the rose breeder Vogt, in which she has sold him her “wonder rose”, the rose opens its blossoms. Vogt, who was informed about Monika's situation by Fred, resigns from the contract and Monika's rose is recognized as the most beautiful new breed at the rose competition. Zappke is now also defeated. Monika and Fred get married. Fred declines a new offer from Zappke, saying that he has something better in mind, to which the businessman replies: "Yes, yes, I understand, love begins with roses."
