Egon of Jordan
Egon von Jordan (born March 19, 1902 at Dux Palace as Egon Leopold Christian Ritter von Jordan , † December 27, 1978 in Vienna as Egon Jordan ) was an Austrian actor .
Life
Jordan was born in 1902 as the son of the kk district captain Egon Christian Ritter von Jordan (* 1865 in Turnau) and his wife Helene Emilie Leopoldine Amalia Semmler (* 1882 in Brno). He studied law for four semesters at the University of Vienna and took private acting lessons from Josef Danegger . In 1921 he made his debut at the Volkstheater in Vienna. From 1925 to 1930 he was engaged at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, in the 1930s he played in Vienna at the Theater an der Wien and again at the Volkstheater.
He soon appeared in his first silent films. Right from the start he was committed to elegant men, but soon had to come to terms with being regularly used as a secondary and minor actor . In addition to court councilors and barons, he played historical figures from the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, especially in Austrian films of the 1950s. In Have I Only Your Love from Eduard von Borsody he was Jacques Offenbach , in Sissi the Prime Minister Count Arco.
After the war, Egon von Jordan made guest appearances on many stages in Germany and Austria. In later years he was also featured in several television series. He had his last appearance in 1974 in the television film Condemned 1910 as Emperor Franz Joseph .
He rests in an urn grave in the Stammersdorfer Zentralfriedhof (group 22, row B, number 379) in Vienna- Floridsdorf .
