Erika von Thellmann
Erika von Thellmann (born August 31, 1902 in Leutschau , † October 27, 1988 in Calw ) was a German-Austrian actress.
Life
The daughter of an Austro- Hungarian officer grew up mostly in Ragusa (now Dubrovnik, Croatia ), which she had to leave at the beginning of the First World War . In Cannstatt she attended secondary school and took acting lessons from 1918. She made her debut in 1919 at the Württemberg State Theater in Stuttgart . The following year she moved to the Deutsches Theater Berlin , where she was part of the ensemble in the following years and became known as Soubrette . Guest performances took her to various other theaters, including the Wilde Bühne and in 1928 also to New York .
Erika von Thellmann made an early appearance in silent films , but it was only at an advanced age that she became a well-known figure in German feature films in numerous supporting roles. With a tendency towards comedy, she played lovable, but often somewhat foolish or unworldly women. With around 160 film roles, including many short appearances, Erika von Thellmann is one of the busiest German-speaking film actresses.
She also continued her theater career and, after the war, made guest appearances at the Small Comedy in Munich and at the Comedy in Berlin . Most recently, she also appeared in television films. From 1929 Erika von Thellmann was temporarily married to the singer Tino Pattiera (1890–1966), then to the sanatorium director Dr. Helmuth Römer (1900–1989).
