background
The production time, including the shooting, dragged on for over a year. The first shooting began on July 24, 1939 and lasted about five months; after two months of re-shooting, they ended in August 1940.
Erich Kettelhut was responsible for the buildings .
The majority of the recordings were made in the studios and outdoor areas of the UFA film studios in Neubabelsberg , today's Studio Babelsberg . The dance scenes by Marika Rökk and the large dance ensemble for the successful song A waltz for you and me took place in front of the terrace of Babelsberg Palace in the former imperial palace park of the same name . Furthermore, a few scenes were created in Bad Homburg .
The role of First Lieutenant Keller took over Erich Fiedler in place of Karel Štěpánek, who fled to England .
Problems with the new color film material delayed the completion of the film considerably. Many scenes in the film had to be re-shot from July to September 1940 due to poor quality of the new material. In the Agfa factory in Wolfen , however, the film material was continuously improved. Making the film copies also made difficulties. The film was not able to celebrate its premiere until October 31, 1941. The two cameramen Konstantin Tschet and Alexander von Lagorio were also present at the premiere in the Berlin Capitol am Zoo and were celebrated with great applause.
The production costs were 2.8 million Reichsmarks , but by November 1944 7.9 million Reichsmarks had been earned, almost three times the production costs.

Rheinische Post ) On the occasion of the premiere of the film in the program of the ARD on February 9, 1970 verdict of the Evangelical movie watchers , "Old UFA A film from 1941 that Georg Jacoby shot with his wife Marika Rökk. [...] The not particularly demanding story wins through the inserted dance and song numbers, in which Marika Rökk knows how to shine. Nice entertainment with small reservations from 16. "
