Aribert Wäscher (born December 1, 1895 in Flensburg , † December 14, 1961 in Berlin ; actually Robert Ernst Wilhelm Wäscher ) was a German writer, stage and film actor.

Life

After completing his acting training, he first started a theater career at various Berlin theaters, made his debut in 1919 at the Kleiner Theater, then switched to the German Theater and finally came to the State Theater via the Lustspielhaus , the Volksbühne and the Barnowsky Theaters, where he worked as an actor until the end of the war . Immediately after the end of the war he played the role of Jupiter in Orpheus in the Underworld at the Komische Oper in Berlin .

In parallel to his stage work, Wäscher made his film debut, first playing a role in Gerhard Lamprecht's silent film The Cemetery of the Living in 1921 , followed by other silent film productions that made him a popular supporting actor. With the introduction of the sound film and his participation in film classics such as Amphitryon - Happiness Comes from the Clouds (1935), he later achieved his final breakthrough. Even during the war years, Wäscher was a sought-after film actor and was placed on the God-gifted list by the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda .

In addition to his stage and film work, Wäscher was also active as a writer who, in addition to cheerful stories and poems (six volumes), also wrote the stage plays Gods among themselves and The tender wife . The washer, who was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class, had been married to actress Gudrun Genest since 1954 . Their daughter Corinna , who comes from an earlier connection with Rudolf Diels , also became an actress.

Aribert Wäscher has a son from another connection, who is also called Aribert Wäscher.

He was buried in the Dahlem cemetery.
