Princess Olala is a German silent film comedy from 1928. Directed by Robert Country play Carmen Boni , Walter Rilla , Marlene Dietrich , Hans Albers and Georg Alexander the lead roles. The film is based on motifs from the operetta of the same name by Jean Gilbert (music) and Rudolf Bernauer (libretti).

action

Prince Boris, son of the prince of an operetta-like small-state monarchy, should absolutely be married according to his father's wishes. When it comes to the opposite sex, the 25-year-old is still a completely blank slate and so far has only been infatuated with music. In order to be prepared for the marital duties, the mister papa sends the still quite inexperienced Filius with the princely chamberlain as paternal guardian at his side to the "love school" of the Madame Chichotte de Gastoné, which in appropriate circles only called "Olala" becomes. At the same time, Boris should get to know his future wife, Princess Xenia, on site. The two letters that the old prince sends to the two women in Paris on the same occasion are exchanged, and so begins a series of misunderstandings and mix-ups.

Princess Xenia now asks Chichotte to let her play the "Olala", while Chichotte should give Boris the high nobility future. In this way Xenia, now “Princess Olala”, wants to get to know her future husband in a completely harmless and unadulterated way. Soon, however, what no one planned or wished for happens: Boris falls in love with the fake princess and thus with the real Olala, i.e. Chichotte. Again, this is not at all right for her lover, the half-silk dandy and crook René. There are still all sorts of entanglements - for example, Boris is temporarily arrested for stealing jewelry, which René had committed, however - until Prince Boris can bring home his intended princess.
