Julius of Szöreghy

Julius von Szöreghy (born September 30, 1883 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary , † December 22, 1942 in Budapest; born Gyula Szöreghy ) was a Hungarian actor and film director .

Life

Gyula Szöreghy made his acting debut in 1902 and played in various theaters, for example in Temesvár and Budapest . His film appearances began in 1913 before he came to Vienna in 1920 . There he changed his name to Julius von Szöreghy . Since 1925 he worked in German productions and became one of the busiest supporting actors in German-Austrian silent film in the second half of the 1920s.

The burly Szöreghy usually embodied comical characters, including strange relatives, servants, petty bourgeoisie and officials. He rarely got leading roles, occasionally he directed it himself. In 1934 he returned to Budapest and continued his film career there in Hungarian productions.
