action

Attorney Dr. Rudolf Kadenberg is completely absorbed in his job. He shows a lot more interest in talking shop with his young colleague Dr. Patricia Kresse than to his wife Brigitte. More and more often he stays in his office and forgets about love. The neglected wife soon finds solace in the charming aristocrat Alexander von Barender, an elegant man of the world who knows how to comfort and make women of the world happy. One day, the old moneylender Stein is murdered, and suspicion immediately falls on the noble family friend, because Barender, who was once a very wealthy landowner, is now in considerable distress because he is notoriously clumsy financially.

Although in Dr. Kadenberg gradually had doubts about the marital fidelity of his Brigitte and if he had every reason to refuse the defense of the alleged lover Barender in court, he gave everything to help the rival for the favor of his wife. It would be easy for Barender to pull his head out of the noose because he actually has an alibi. To do this, however, he would have to compromise Brigitte Kadenberg, since he was with her at the alleged time of the crime. With Kadenberg's help, the real culprit is unmasked, and the lawyer can finally devote himself more intensively to his wife.

Reviews

Der Spiegel judged: "A crime and marriage film, remote from nature and artless like the main actor (...) Birgel only expresses the selfless and unconventional nature of this eccentric with the tuxedo, which he puts on instead of a tailcoat for a ball in his glamorous villa."

In Filmdienst states: "The interwoven into the film society detective story seems profiled as the central conflict marriage."
