Werner Jörg Lüddecke

Werner Jörg Lüddecke (born June 10, 1912 in Hanover ; † May 8, 1986 in Ascona ) was a German writer and screenwriter .

Life

Lüddecke worked as a reporter and newspaper editor in Kassel and Dresden and as a lecturer in Berlin. After military service and imprisonment, he became an author and editor at the NWDR . From 1943 he wrote numerous novels, including Morituri , which was made into a film in 1963, and two radio plays.

Together with Wolfgang Staudte , he provided the draft for the literary film adaptation of Das Beil von Wandsbek in 1951 and wrote film scripts from 1953. His scripts for the productions set during National Socialism July 20 (1955) and Night when the Devil Came (1957) each earned him a Federal Film Prize .
