action
Since the death of Professor Holk, a renowned veterinarian, the oldest daughter of the Berlin family, Martina Holk, has to look after the numerous siblings. In addition to Martina, there are six other girls and boys, all between ten and 24 years old. She is supported by the guardian of the family, Professor Sedelmann, an odd, older, friendly gentleman who, however, largely gives Martina a free hand in her decision-making. One day the old Sedelmann has to state that the running costs of the Grunewald villa are gradually eating up the assets of the largely income-free family, and so Martina, in agreement with the guardian, decides to use her deceased father's practice rooms and laboratories, which are also housed in the spacious house to rent to another vet so that the villa can be owned by the extended family.
The younger siblings are anything but particularly enthusiastic that a stranger is about to move into the house and are therefore starting to purposefully scare away anyone interested. After all, the "lovely" family is supposed to be lucky in misery. Martina's boss, the veterinarian Dr. Eduard Höflin, shows himself ready to take over Prof. Holk's practice and then moves into the Grunewald villa. Dr. Initially, Höflin is very happy about this change, since he has long since kept an eye on Martina, who has so far been brittle and dismissive because the young woman does not have her head free for a romance in view of her troubled siblings. Dr. Höflin shows himself to be quite resistant to the pranks, turbulence and nervousness of Martina's brothers and sisters, as he himself grew up with eight siblings.
The Holk gang does not want someone else to move into their house and is now starting a real guerrilla war against the nervous vet. But he remains steadfast until one day a prank actually brings young happiness apart temporarily. The young people quickly realize that this time she has gone too far, because the separation from Dr. Martine is hard on the courtier. And so Irmgard, Günther, Otto, Sohni, Babsi and Lauser Holk decide to be a lovely family to their sister Martina and try to smooth things over again and reconcile Martina and Eduard again. In order to present the two of them with a fait accompli, an announcement of their marriage is simply placed in the newspaper. When the eight Höflins siblings arrive, the mess is perfect. Finally there is a great reconciliation, and Martina and Dr. Court women spontaneously celebrate their engagement.
