Gerhard T. Buchholz

Gerhard Traugott Buchholz (born January 1, 1898 in Mockrau , Silesia , today Poland , † November 30, 1970 in Berlin ) was a German writer , film director and screenwriter .

Life

He studied painting at the Königsberg Art Academy . After graduating there as a painter and stage designer, he worked at the theater in Königsberg . Buchholz also remained active as a painter in later years.

At the beginning of the 1930s he began to work as a writer. From 1937 he wrote screenplays, mostly for harmless film comedies. As a co-author, however, he was also involved in the anti-Semitic production The Rothschilds . He also wrote a “factual report” with pictures on this film.

After the war he tried twice as a director and, with his Cologne-based Occident Film Produktion GmbH, as a producer. He repeatedly addressed problems in divided Germany . At the 1958 Berlin International Film Festival he was a member of the jury.
