Werner Friedrich Emil Eisbrenner (born December 2, 1908 in Berlin ; † November 7, 1981 there ) was a German composer who is best known for his film scores.

Life

Eisbrenner studied church music and music education at the State Music Academy in Berlin from 1927 to 1929 . He then worked as a pianist, arranger, bandmaster and conductor. He composed violin concertos and orchestral music as well as the musical comedy Von Hand zu Hand .

Eisbrenner was particularly important as a film composer. His melodies for the Hans Albers film Große Freiheit No. 7 are probably best known . Eisbrenner also worked for radio and television. A private teaching institute for church and school music was under his direction. In 1974 he received the gold film tape for many years of outstanding work in German film. In his honor, a plaque was unveiled on April 23, 1998 at his former apartment at Bismarckallee 32a in Berlin.

It rests in the Dahlem forest cemetery (Dept. 20 D 18). His musical legacy is in the German Composers' Archive in the Dresden European Center for the Arts in Hellerau .
