action

Old Dr. Max Schröter, his son Dr. Paul Schröter and his son Eugen Schröter, a sporty youngster with a single hit on women, all work in the family's own law firm. One day when Paul was driving his friend Franz Bauer's truck on his way to Hamburg at night, there was an accident when he met a sports car that couldn't evade in time. The car stays upright and Paul saves the young driver who was thrown out of the car and landed in a high arc in a hay bale. It's about the newly divorced Eva Surén, and she turns out to be pretty scruffy during Paul's first aid because she blames Paul for the accident because the lights of his truck would have blinded her. Meanwhile, the young Eugene is having fun with the charming and pretty client Yvonne Rödern over a bottle of champagne that same night. To do this, Eugen had previously stolen his grandfather's car, who actually wanted to go fishing in his car himself.

Now it comes to all sorts of unexpected complications. Ms. Surén, who vented her anger at Paul at the police station, apparently stormed off to Dick Jaefferson before her own wedding, and since Paul was driving Franz Bauer's truck, both she and the police officer who appeared believed that Paul was this freight forwarder Franz Bauer, a well-known and successful wrestler as a sideline. Finally, Max Schröter, who had represented Yvonne in court that morning, appears at his grandson's tete-a-tete and now begins to relax the seductive young lady for her grandson over his bottle of champagne. A little later, the real Franz Bauer caught up with his friend Paul Schröter and can take over the truck from him again, with which he absolutely has to drive to his next wrestling match in Hamburg, which is to take place the next day. As a friendship service, Paul has himself arrested as the alleged cause of the accident “Franz Bauer” so that Franz can go to his fight. When the unsuspecting Eva Paul tries to talk into his conscience that he should finally become an honest, good person again, he plays this farce because he has long since developed a liking for the escaped bride.

When Eva Surén realizes that Paul Schröter is not a crook, she begins to fall in love with him on the night that gives the title. Through further entanglements, Paul now also gets to know Yvonne, who is sleeping in his bedroom, who immediately begins to flirt with the third Schröter man, while the other two Schröters sit dead drunk in front of the bedroom door, which is locked from the inside. When the two of them climb down on the outside facade of Schröter's house, Eva sees this and is as jealous as she is angry. Immediately she grabs Paul's car and speeds away. In the process, she creates another accident. Paul races after Eva in another vehicle with Yvonne at his side and finally finds her. In the meantime, Yvonne has got out of the chase car and is walking alone along the country road. Coincidence would have it that another vehicle stops in which u. a. Eva's father Hendrick Surén and her future husband Dick Jaefferson is located. You take the nocturnal wanderer with you. Yvonne promptly begins to flirt with Dick, who is not averse.

Franz Bauer finally arrived in Hamburg the next morning and can start his wrestling match. Things are going badly, he threatens to lose the fight. Eva, who still believes that her nocturnal acquaintance Paul was Franz Bauer, meanwhile follows the wrestling match on the radio with apprehension. Franzens girlfriend now takes unfair means and flirts with Bauer's opponent in order to confuse him. Now Bauer turns up in the final round and can still defeat the opponent. While Eva is still on the radio, Paul sneaks into the room from behind with a bouquet of flowers. Eva is totally surprised that her “Franz” is actually someone else, namely the lawyer Dr. Paul Schröter is. With the words "I'll never forget this night!" Paul confesses his love to Eva.

"An intricate romantic comedy with heavy frivolity from the poor German dream factory of the post-war period."
