Life

With 22 years Aulinger received at the Munich Volkstheater her first engagement with the role of Vroni in the popular play The perjury Bauer of Ludwig Anzengruber . Later she played classical roles by Henrik Ibsen and Goethe in the Münchner Kammerspiele .

She began working for the radio in 1925 with the first reading on the radio by Ludwig Thomas Die Heilige Nacht , with which she established a tradition of Bavarian radio that continues to this day . She read the story herself until 1960. Elise Aulinger is considered to be the inventor of the character “ Ratschkathl ”, who she embodied as market woman “Veronika Wurzl” not only in the revue operetta “Münchner Luft”, but also in her pressed on records and im Radio broadcasted dialect lectures and as the author of the "Wurzl-Briefe", which appeared in the Münchner Sonntagsanzeiger . Most of these texts were authored by Philipp Weichand .

Aulinger made her cinema debut in 1921 in Fest auf Hederlevhuus, based on a novella by Theodor Storm . By 1956 , over 70 other roles followed, mostly in the homeland film genre , including in propaganda films such as SA-Mann Brand and Wunschkonzert . In the role of housekeeper Marta , she appeared in front of the camera alongside Ingrid Bergman and Klaus Kinski in 1954 in Roberto Rossellini's Angst (La Paura) based on the novel by Stefan Zweig .

As one of only six Munich folk actors and singers, a fountain monument was unveiled in her honor on September 23, 1977 on the Viktualienmarkt - very close to her birthplace on Blumenstrasse. The bronze figure on the fountain designed by Anton Rückel shows her with a book in her hand in a lively narrative position. In district Ramersdorf-Perlach a street named after her.

Elise Aulinger was married to the playwright Max Sommer (alias Max Ferner ) and was the aunt of the Munich writer and original Sigi Sommer . Her son was the actor Fritz Aulinger (1912–1942).

She found her final resting place in the forest cemetery in Munich.
