action
The respected Ernst Vossberg is, as they say, a man in his prime. He has been married to his wife Maria for 18 years, but as hard as they try, the marriage remains childless as a result of Mary's operation. Vossberg seeks and finds consolation in his much younger secretary Renate Reinhard. Renate soon becomes pregnant by him, and since the lover does not want to share the husband of her dreams with the still-wife Maria Vossberg in the future, she seeks out the betrayed wife and demands that she release Ernst. After Renate's long pressure and in view of the fact that he will soon be a father, Ernst agrees to get a divorce. Maria Vossberg overhears this conversation by chance.
Renate has meanwhile given birth to a healthy child. One day there was a physical fight between the two rivals in which a shot was released in a scuffle. Renate sinks to the ground, fatally hit. In the subsequent court hearing in which Maria Vossberg is accused of murder, one finally shows understanding for Maria's act and gives her a comparatively mild sentence. Ernst Vossberg only now realizes what he has in his wife, and they both get back together. His and Renate's child will grow up with the previously childless couple.

Reviews
Der Spiegel judged: “Erich Ebermayer's script, obsessed with justice, almost pedantically calculates the sins and merits of those involved. But in the final account the items probability and taste are missing. "
At Filmdienst it says: "Incredible, emotionally and psychologically lying melodrama."
