Charlotte Witthauer
Charlotte Witthauer (born July 18, 1908 in Breslau ; † May 6, 1980 in Tutzing ) was a German actress .
Life
After training as an actor at the Max Reinhardt School of the Deutsches Theater Berlin , Charlotte Witthauer made her stage debut at the Stadttheater Oberhausen in 1932 , where she also received her first permanent engagement. This was followed by stage positions at the Rostock City Theater and the Braunschweig State Theater . From 1936 to 1944 she was part of the ensemble of the Berlin State Theater . After the war, engagements in Hamburg ( Deutsches Schauspielhaus ) and Munich (Kleine Komödie) followed.
In 1931 Charlotte Witthauer made her feature film debut in the drama Girls in Uniform . In the following years she mostly played supporting roles in well-known productions such as Fireworks (alongside Lilli Palmer ). She played the wife of the high school director Dr. Taft ( Theo Lingen ) in the film series Die Lümmel von der Erste Bank .
She has also worked extensively as a radio speaker and since the 1940s as a voice actress . As early as 1934 she could be seen alongside Gustaf Gründgens , Theo Lingen and Lola Müthel in Hans Sonnenstösser's journey into hell . In 1949 she worked alongside Heinz Rühmann , Elfriede Kuzmany and Grethe Weiser in the comedy You can tell me a lot . In Thornton Wilder's We Got Away Again , it was heard in a WDR production in 1965 and in a RIAS version two years later . Hans-Christian Blech , Elfriede Irrall and Almut Eggert were your partners in both radio plays .
Charlotte Witthauer was married to the actor Hans Quest from 1940 to 1968. The two sons Christoph (1940-2020, actor) and Thomas Quest (* 1945, company owner) come from this marriage . She is buried in the Starnberg cemetery.
