action

The hopeful young racing driver Andreas von Doerr, who had a happy marriage with his wife Garda, had an accident so badly during his race at the Nürburgring that he went to his clinical treatment on the instructions of the professor who treated him to make a final recovery Switzerland must go. There he met the sophisticated and wealthy widow Joan de Portago from Argentina , who is used to getting what she wants. And she likes Andreas immediately. The fact that he is reluctant to respond to her flirtation attempts spurs her on even more to win him over. And Andreas, who misses his wife, gets involved with Joan and begins a love affair with her. When parting, he lets her believe that he will part with his wife.

Garda, who trusts her husband, knows nothing of any of this and, in addition to her professional work as a photographer, is busy decorating the house that she and Andreas bought recently. When, on the day Garda is expecting her husband back, Joan de Portago shows up to tell her without further ado that she and Andreas would love each other, Garda is shocked after the first surprise. But then her fighting spirit awakens because she is by no means ready to leave her husband, who means everything to her, to the rival. She even invites Joan to the party that her friend Elisabeth is giving on the occasion of Andreas' return from Switzerland.

Garda welcomes her husband lovingly but with a distance, which Andreas does not hide. When asked by him, she tricked him into thinking that she had fallen in love with another man, to which he reacted offended. As soon as he got to the party, he eyed every man who approaches Garda. When Elisabeth Andreas introduces Joan de Portago as a surprise guest, he thinks he can hardly believe his eyes. While dancing with Joan, Garda has a chat with Dr. Algys, who was with Joan. He tells her that he has been in love with Joan for years, but that she is planning to marry someone else. When Andreas Garda sees Algys so familiar with the surgeon, he kisses Joan in front of his wife, who pays him back and lets Algys kiss her in turn.

While Andreas is staying in a hotel, Garda decides to go alone on the trip that she wanted to give Andreas as a present. Her friend Elisabeth lets her know that a separation between her and her husband is inevitable. In the Hotel Savoy there is a discussion between Andreas von Doerr and Dr. Algys. Everything clears up when Joan de Portago joins the two men. Andreas leaves both with the words that he now knows where he belongs. His attempt to apologize to Garda fails miserably. After there are a few more entanglements between everyone involved, Garda and Andreas reconcile again and Dr. Algys finally succeeds in promoting Joan.
