action
The film is set towards the end of World War II . The war is lost for Germany, but boys still go to war voluntarily for Hitler . The war front is already close near Szczecin . A group of high school students fanatically goes to war. However, their mothers do not want to accept that their sons should fall for the Führer in the last months of the war and go in search of them. They learn that they belong to Captain Dornberg's group. Indeed, they can track down their boys. At the front they meet stubborn officers and disaffected soldiers. Only their own sons are motivated, and they definitely don't want to go home with their mothers. An older, experienced soldier, who also does not understand that these boys should die unnecessarily, finally hides the mothers with their sons in a barn while the front moves further west.

Reviews
“A film worth discussing, which unequivocally denounces the degeneracy of the warfare of the time and illuminates the disruption of man in total war from the perspective of maternal emotions. His efforts to condemn the war, despite the impressive actors and good camera work, all too often get stuck in feeling and cliché and do not achieve the effect of Bernhard Wicki's themed film Die Brücke . "
"The film fluctuates between dignified film craftsmanship and committed message, which, however, remains all too stereotyped and - despite impressive acting performances - is tied to a dramaturgy of superficial effects."
