Hermann Kner
Hermann Kner (* 16th December 1888 in Vienna , † 28. December 1957 in Hamburg ) was an Austrian actor of stage, film and television as well as a theater director.
Live and act
The doctor's son received his artistic career at Vienna's Academy for Music and Performing Arts . Hermann Kner began his career in the Austrian provinces in the early 1910s and was active as a singer and actor at venues such as the St. Pölten City Theater until the outbreak of World War I. In 1917 an engagement led him to the New Theater in Frankfurt am Main for several years. He then performed at the Burgtheater from 1923 to 1925. After his return to Frankfurt, Kner worked on stages in Breslau and Stuttgart before returning to his hometown of Vienna in 1933 to appear at the Volkstheater for three seasons. For the next three seasons (1936 to 1939) Hermann Kner belonged to the theater ensemble in Gera, and in 1939/40 he was seen at the municipal theaters of Graz. From 1940 until all German theaters were closed in 1944, Kner was banned from performing for unknown reasons.
After the Second World War, Kner returned to Gera in 1945, where he continued his theater career as senior theater director until 1947. Then Kner went to Hamburg and settled there. Kner not only played at the Kammerspiele and Theater im Zimmer, but also acted in small roles in a number of cinema and television films. In addition, since the beginning of the radio age in Germany, the Viennese also performed a considerable number of radio play tasks.
