Gudrun Genest (born August 13, 1914 in Braunschweig ; † February 6, 2013 in Berlin ) was a German actress and voice actress .

Life

Gudrun Genest took acting lessons in Berlin . She made her debut at the Volksbühne Berlin in 1931 . This was followed by theater engagements at the Staatstheater Berlin (1931/1932 season), at the Städtische Bühnen Köln (1933–1942) and at the Berlin soldiers' stage (1943–1944). After the Second World War she had engagements in Berlin at the Schlosspark Theater Berlin (since 1945) and at the Schillertheater (since 1951). Her stage roles at the Schlosspark Theater Berlin in the early 1950s included: Eliante in Der Menschenfeind , Fräulein Bürstner in The Trial , Frau Leonards in Bluthochzeit (all 1950), Amelia in Bernarda Albas Haus (1952) and Bettina Clausen in Before Sunset (1954). At the Schillertheater Berlin she played, inter alia, Blanche Ducrez in the play Der Gesang im Feuerofen by Carl Zuckmayer (1951), Mathilde in der Posse Die Zwei Nachtwandler by Johann Nepomuk Nestroy (1951), Ilse in Der Teufel und der liebe Gott (1952), Doña Musica in the play The Silk Shoe by Paul Claudel (1952), Doña Belisa in Don Juan or The Love of Geometry (1953), Lieschen in Faust (1954) and Ann Putnam in Witch Hunt (1954).

In addition, Gudrun Genest was a frequent guest in film and television productions. She played in literary adaptations ( The marriage of Mr Mississippi after Dürrenmatt ), ambitious movies ( Semmelweis - Savior of Mothers ) or family series such as Fräulein (Ilse) Glaubrecht in Die Wicherts from next door . Since 1947 Gudrun Genest has worked extensively in dubbing. She lent her voice to prominent colleagues such as Jane Wyman ( The Lost Weekend ) , Maureen O'Hara ( Sindbad the Seafarer , The Anglerfish of Cartagena ) or two different actresses in the role of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple : Helen Hayes ( The murderer photo , Murder with a double bottom ) and Angela Lansbury ( Murder in the Mirror ; but also in The Jester and The Time of the Wolves ) . For the RIAS Berlin, she also served as spokeswoman in radio plays active. Gudrun Genest was also the narrator in the animated television series Puschel, das Eichhorn .

Gudrun Genest was married to the actor Aribert Wäscher . Her daughter Corinna Genest , who comes from a previous relationship between her mother and Rudolf Diels , and her son-in-law Karl Schönböck were also active in this profession. She died in Berlin in 2013 at the age of 98 and was buried in the St. Anne's Churchyard in the urn grave (field 003-41) of her husband Aribert Wäscher.
