Franz Arzdorf

Franz Arzdorf (born May 5, 1904 in Munich , † April 23, 1974 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) was a German actor and director .

Life

The son of the businessman Franz Arzdorf made his acting debut in 1924 at the Münchner Kammerspiele . This was followed by engagements in Frankfurt / Main, Leipzig and at the Vienna Volkstheater . In 1937 various theater activities followed at Berlin stages, but also film productions. Franz Arzdorf was a sought-after character actor at this time, so that he was able to participate in almost 40 film productions by 1943.

After 1945 he worked with DEFA and especially in DFF productions. In addition to Freiherr von Simbach in the comedy Moral (1956), he embodied a large number of different characters in television films until the construction of the Berlin Wall prevented him from working for GDR television.
