Leo Peukert

Leonhard "Leo" Peukert (born August 26, 1885 in Munich ; † January 6, 1944 in Tiengen ) was a German theater and film actor and film director .

Life

From 1904 he appeared as an actor at the United Theaters in Munich, where he stayed until 1908. In 1909 he came to the Berlin Lustspielhaus and was discovered for film there. Peukert was seen in silent film roles as early as 1911 . He began in films by Urban Gad and Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers , during the production of which he appeared in comedies in a Leo series named after him during the First World War and became known. He has directed more than ten silent films.

In total, he took part in almost 300 silent and sound films, in Hotel Sacher also with a small vocal part. In his last creative years it was mainly supporting roles in the rural and rural milieu that made him popular. He was married to the actress Sabine Impekoven since 1914 .

He also worked as an observer at the film supervisory board .

Peukert rests in the forest cemetery in Munich , next to his wife.
